Athletic Trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by ATs comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.* Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) as a health care profession.

North Carolina Central University’s Athletic Training Students are proud to bring this Proclamation forward to Durham County’s Board of Commissioners. Athletic Training Students, individually contribute a minimum of 400 service learning hours annually to athletic and sports medicine services in Durham County. They are invested in their service learning opportunities and uphold NCCU’s motto “In Truth and Service”. They participate in clinical rotations at NCCU, Durham Public Schools, Duke University Hospital System, NC School of Science & Math and Triangle Orthopedics, in Durham County.
